How to find the Gaisbergbus in Salzburg?
How to find the busstop of the Gaisbergbus 151 that will take you straight to the top of Gaisberg. This is how in Salzburg you get to your tandem paragliding meeting point by public transport. The busstop is at Mirabellplatz but not where you would expect it. Therefore as tandem pilot and owner of VIP-paragliding I went and took a look where exactly to find the right busstop. We wouldn’t want that your tandem paragliding adventure starts with the stress of missing the bus and having to take a taxi.
Things to do in Salzburg: Gaisbergbus to Gaisberg
It’s fantastic when from a big city you can get out easily and find yourself looking down at the city center from above and then to go for a coffee and Apfelstrudel and then to go paragliding. In Salzburg it’s not a cableway (telepherique) you take but a regular city bus: Gaisbergbus 151. It’s super cheap and comfortable. Yet, the starting point is a bit hard to find (see map). That’s why last week I went and took a look for myself. And this is what I found. Take a look!

Bus schedule of Gaisbergbus 151
Let’s give some final important details! The bus schedule (2025 version) can be found here. On weekdays the bus goes every 90 minutes. On weekends and holidays every 40 minutes. In the summer season there is a late bus at 17.05 daily and on Friday and Saturday and the evening before a holiday a late one at 18.35.
Paragliding landing site in Salzburg: Guggenthal
The paragliding landing place is at the busstop Volkschule Guggenthal. Often for tandem paragliding pilots get on the bus here and you will meet your pilot in the bus.
If you have a rental car you can park close to that busstop – along the blue lines on the foto – and meet the pilots at the busstop to go up the mountain together. The advantage is that in this way you will be right back any your car after the flight.

If you miss the bus up or down, a taxi is not too expensive. Use Uber or the Salzburg Taxi Zentrale: call them at +436628111 or use their nice app!
